Finals over: wintertime in Provo!

Finally I just have a second to slow down and take a deep breath.  Finals are done and OVER!  It's been a long semester, but an awesome one.  Chad and I both went to school, worked at our various places of employment, and began our lives as "The Bennett Family".  It was a semester of "firsts": first time we had to buy a new bottle of ketchup, first time we had to juggle work/school/married life, first time we didn't go home for Thanksgiving, first time hosting thanksgiving dinner at our house, first new bike purchased, first time a close friend was diagnosed with cancer, first Christmas, new Christmas traditions, first time riding your bike through a blizzard to get to school, etc.

But now fall semester is over, winter is really here.  The last couple of days it has snowed like crazy.  The first couple of days were a little bit frustrating what with the slowed pace of life just trying to get places.  However, I think I'm really starting to like the snow.  At least I'm getting used to driving in it when the roads are icy.  I love to look out the window first thing in the morning and see the ground covered in what looks like frosting, all of the trees' branches lined with a thin white line, outlining its delicate shape.  This is what our house looks like:

Last night, we called Courtney and Ben Hugo to help us feel the Christmas season.  We made a quick trip to Albertsons and then spent the evening making gingerbread houses (minus the gingerbread) and watching Elf.

Courtney and Ben....
Chad working on our fabulous construction project.  Maybe he should consider majoring in construction management:

It's kind of fun to continue some of the holiday traditions that I have grown up with... gingerbread house contests were always some of my favorites.  Christmas is definitely different with just Chad and I, but I love it.  We can't wait for next Tuesday when we will hop in the car and drive down to Las Vegas and California to celebrate Christmas with our family.

First Snow!

One morning last week I woke up and started my day just like any other. I got up, got ready for work, packed my lunch, ate some yogurt and kashi for breakfast, grabbed a hoodie and opened the door to our carport and found a suprise outside: SNOW! I couldn't believe it, it had snowed and I hadn't even noticed until I was about to leave the house. It looked beautiful outside with all the fresh new snow and it pretty much made my day. It hasn't snowed since then, just a lot of cold and rain, but I'm excited that it is officially winter time in my book.
