Moosen

Yes, that is a moose. On a Wednesday night mountain bike ride, we saw moose in the wild! It happened, and here's proof.
But it was our lucky day, because it turned out that said moose was a mama moose and her baby was close by. Two moose= Moosen. Needless to say, it was an awesome day.

Lysol gone wrong

You would think that the concept of Lysol is pretty self explanatory. "Disinfect to Protect", need I say more? For family night this week, Chad decided that we absolutely needed to have chocolate cake, so we whipped some up and put it in the oven to bake. In the meantime, we finished the stack of dishes in the sink and set about cleaning the kitchen counters. I was standing next to the sink, drying the last couple of dishes when I look over at Chad. He was poised and ready to spray down the counter when I noticed that instead of a bottle of soapy goodness called Lysol, he has in hand the canister of Pam we had just used to spray the bundt cake pan. I looked at it, looked at the counter, looked at him, and did nothing. About 6 seconds later when the entire counter had been thoroughly covered with a thin layer of Pam, it clicked in my head that something was not right and I posed the question: "what are you doing?" He stopped, looked at me, and said: "What am I doing?!"

It was pretty much the funniest thing I've ever seen (after having to clean up the oil-covered kitchen countertop). It was one of those out-of-mind experiences when you accidentally put the milk back in the cupboard and the cereal box in the fridge. But instead of experiencing this myself, I got to watch it happen. Hilarious. You gotta love husbands. Moral of the story: Lysol is an acceptable household countertop cleaner and Pam is not. The end.

Ward Garden Project

This is our ward garden. I know, it doesn't look like much from this far away, but I promise, it's actually really impressive. This is a huge, empty lot that a family in Orem is letting us borrow for the season, so it's quite a bit of space. Our garden contains:
Corn.
More corn.
Little watermelons.
Green Tomatoes + 1 Red Tomato.
More Green Tomatoes.
Some kind of funky-looking green pepper.
A yellow pepper.
A growing pumpkin.
Happy Summer= Happy Gardening.

Browning BPS.

The Bennett family now owns a gun. But not just any gun, a 12 gauge shotgun: a Browning BPS. I don't know much more about it than that, that's what google is for in my spare time. But for now, it is the coolest 12 gauge I've ever seen.

Look how happy he is!
Last week we went up to Cabella's for our evening entertainment to look around and see what kind of guns were available in our price range. We weren't exactly planning on buying a gun that night, but we scored big time while looking through some of the used guns. The Browning we stumbled upon has a couple of scratches on the wood part (if it has a name I have no idea what it is...), but is otherwise in great condition. The barrel has been recently replaced and it looks great!

Browsing around the selection of guns at Cabella's:
After choosing the gun we wanted, Chad signed the paperwork and it was ours! (I couldn't sign for it... apparently there's some rule about having to be 21)
After gun shopping, we did a little browsing around the camping equipment and camouflage gear. Apparently there are some babies who need camo onesies, who knew.
Then we finally brought it home. Needless to say, we are excited about this newest family purchase.

These are our mean faces.

Realization

This is where I live...
... and this is the man I love.
What more could I ever need?

... except maybe this dandelion. So beautiful.

Weekend Adventures

Isn't he cute?
This past weekend was a fun one, spent (as usual) hanging out with our two best friends. On Friday night, we decided we wanted some shooting practice so we jumped in our cars and went exploring around squaw peak for a good campsite for a fire/shooting area. Just our luck, we found this beautiful little clearing for shooting, and we each took turns in the waist-high grass shooting clay pigeons. By the end of the evening, we decided that purchasing a gun is somewhere in our immediate future. We both love it! Plus, Provo just has that dangerous feel to it, I think a gun would make us feel safer.

Love her.
The shooting clearing.
The boys.
The other purpose for our evening in the wilderness was to build a bonfire to burn all of the post-wedding garbage from Shane and Jacie's wedding. Their truck was a little full.First we built the fire, then decided that it wasn't dark enough yet, so they tried to put it out. I don't know who's idea that was...
Chad apparently thought he could blow it out.
You're an eagle, you're an eagle.
The camp site next to ours was already taken, but it was absolutely beautiful. It sits right on the edge of the hill looking out into Utah Valley. Next time we go camping, it will be at this spot.
Look at that view of the valley and the lake.
The evening's dinner was comprised of hot dogs/brats, chips, and donuts. Dinner of champions. Shane thought it was pretty cool.
Shane also really liked the donuts. They were delicious.
The next entertainment of the evening was watching Chad and Shane break up the 2nd pallet into pieces. They both thought they were indestructible.
Overall, it was a great evening out at Squaw Peak.

The other fun adventure of the weekend was a haircutting lesson for Jacie. Chad cuts his own hair (with my help at some parts) and Jacie wanted to learn how to cut Shane's. This is actually the second married couple that we've taught how to cut hair... he's just such a good teacher! I don't know why more guys don't cut their own hair. Chad likes his cut almost every 3 weeks, so if he were going somewhere else to get his hair cut, that would be anywhere from $10-$15 every three weeks. The money we save every year for cutting it ourselves is awesome and can be used for so many other good things!
All in all, a happy weekend.
