Playing Mom & Dad for a couple of hours

This past Saturday, Chad and I got to babysit our adorable niece Kenzie... the picture above was my favorite one from the night. Jason and Kimber went out for dinner and a movie, so we got to hang out and play with our favorite niece. They just moved into an awesome little basement apartment in Pleasant Grove with a huge backyard and a beautiful view.

We spent most of the evening playing in the backyard, she just couldn't get enough of it. First things first, she had to show us the playset. Playing on the swings:
Chad loved this picture.
The view of the mountains from their backyard.
Next up, she had to show us the garden.
I decided that I want to have a garden like this someday when i grow up and we have our own house. It had strawberries, some tomatoes and oodles of different herbs. I thought it was kind of awesome.
After the garden, it was time to play with the balls.
She was so proud to show us how she could kick the ball. Everytime she kicked it, she would say, "I kicked it, Ta Da!"
After playing outside, we came in to eat some dinner (hot dogs with applesauce... the kid loves hot dogs and scarfed it down like I've never seen), watch a little of her favorite Barbie movie, and then read some books before bed.
We had a fun night pretending to be parents for a couple hours. Having nieces and nephews is kind of awesome because you can do all the fun stuff with them... play outside, read books, change maybe a diaper or two, and then go back home and sleep in the next day. All the perks of having kids without all of the not-so-fun stuff. We love her. And if you couldn't tell, we are excited to have our own kids someday... someday in the far future.

Thank you so much for babysitting! We really needed a night out. You got some pretty funny pictures of Kenz that I may just have to steal :)

Just want to remind you that when you do have kids in the far future, that you make sure your child gets screened for thyroid malfunctions, because you should know the problems that this can cause. And maybe a genetic screening test so you make sure your child is a true boy or girl and won't have P@12 syndrome?
:)
