a new entertainment center

I love KSL. There, I said it. The classified section of KSL is quite fabulous and far superior to Craig's List. We've used KSL to sell multiple pieces of furniture and acquire quite a few of my favorites as well. Our kitchen table, computer desk, Ryder's changing table/dresser, and now this entertainment center have all been awesome purchases. One of the best parts? If you take your time, you can usually find exactly what you're looking for at a very affordable price. Win! This entertainment center matches our bookshelf exactly, has the capability of enclosing all of our movies as well as electronic equipment behind closed doors (and away from inquisitive hands), and only cost $80. Alright, so I did have to make the drive out to Eagle Mountain to pick it up, but it was so worth it! Hooray for KSL!

Casa de Inferno: 5th Annual

We love the 4th of July around our house. It means it's time for our annual 'Casa de Inferno' party! [although it was discussed changing the name of the party to 'Casa de Fuego' as we've recently realized that we've been calling it the 'house of hell' party rather than 'house of fire' party, we decided to leave it be] Living across the street from the stadium means that any sort of event that goes on there is one that we kind of have to be involved in. They shut down the street and its flooded with merry makers. We live it up and have a BBQ on our front lawn so we can enjoy the performance from a distance and watch the firework display. This year was the Beach Boys, a classic. With good friends and good food, how can you go wrong?
This was Ryder's reaction to the fly by. Apparently the jets were a little too loud for his liking. Note to self: take family picture BEFORE the fly by, not after.
Hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July!

{Ryder :: 5 months}

This cute kid is now 5 months old. I can't believe it. At 5 months, Ryder:
  • has a mild love affair with his feet. Seriously, the kid loves them and at any given time during the day he likes to grab hold and stick them in his mouth.
  • rolls over from his stomach to his back and his back to his stomach
  • up until this past week, he has been a great sleeper. The past week, however, he's decided to start waking up once during the night and now wakes up around 6 as opposed to 8. We're hoping its a phase!
  • has now been to Lake Mead and successfully avoided getting sunburned
  • has a wonderful belly laugh that warms your heart
  • actually starting to enjoy tummy time and getting close to scooting
  • has started to recognize both Chad and I and definitely prefers us to anyone else... makes me feel amazing
  • is happiest in the morning- it is his time of the day
  • will take at least one long nap during the day and then a couple of little cat naps
  • is such a happy kid

Chaddy turns 26!

Last week Chad celebrated his golden birthday: he turned 26 on the 26th of June! Ryder man and I had a fun time showering this stud with our love. Chad opened gifts before he left for work and then that night we headed up to City Creek to celebrate. We had dinner at one of our favorites: the Blue Lemon and then got a piece of cheesecake for dessert. Happy Birthday Chaddy!
A couple of days later, we had the Saltzmans over for dinner and birthday cupcakes! I tried a new recipe for chocolate chip cookie dough cupcakes. They were delicious!
Aunt Jacie teaching Ryder man how to "photo bomb".
Happy Birthday Chaddy!

We've got ourselves a lake baby...

Growing up, we went boating with family friends every other summer. Most of our trips were to Lake Mead which despite the lake is pretty much a desert wasteland. Although the trips are a lot of work (camping on a beach in 105 degree heat), its a blast spending so much time with family... wakeboarding, tubing, swimming to small islands, cliff jumping, lighting fireworks, camping, playing cards... there's always something to do! So when I was in high school, my parents decided it was time to become boat owners and we joined the club.

Last week was the first family boating trip of the season and Chad and I were eager to join in on the fun. To say we were anxious about bringing our 5 month old to the lake was an understatement, but Ryder man was such a good sport and was our favorite happy baby most of the trip. Although we had originally planned on camping on the beach, we ended up spending the nights at Chad's mom's house in Las Vegas and then meeting back at the lake first thing in the morning. It was such a fun trip to spend time with our family and the Simmons family- Chad's mom even came out to the lake to hang out with us on one of the days!
