A Cali Weekend

This weekend Chad and I got to head down to California for my grandpa's funeral. It was a beautiful weekend and it was a great opportunity to see family and friends. This funeral was one of those "happy celebrations of life" because my grandpa has lived a full life and was declining in health. Its great to know that he's in a wonderful place and I'll get to see him again someday.

Getting ready for the funeral. It makes me miss living with sisters where eyebrow-plucking occurs in a public place and wherever may be necessary.

The funeral took place at the church right next to the Newport Beach Temple. This is the temple where Chad and I got married so it was great to walk around the grounds for a little bit.

After the funeral but before heading to the cemetery, we all needed a quick snack break.

Grandma brought these little tiny birds for all 30 of the grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren to place on the casket.

After the burial, we all went back to my Aunt Julie and Uncle Tommy's house for lunch. It was fun getting to know all of the cousins from the other side of Grandpa's family and remembering all of the good memories of our Grandpa.

On Sunday morning, our cousins came over for breakfast... this is my uncle going through our trash to pick out things to take home to his compost pile. Let's just say he dances to the beat of his own drum.

We'll be back soon California... don't you worry.

I just love your family! It looks like you had a great time.. especially considering the circumstances. It's hard not to in California.
