My Dad, the Stud.

This weekend my Dad ran a marathon; a quick road trip to St. George was definitely in order. It was so nice to get out of Provo for a little bit and see my family in the process.

Family. Isn't it fun having so many people to share the mirror with in the morning?
On Saturday morning, we drove up through Snow Canyon to see my Dad at mile 16. Saw the cutest sign ever. Run Fast Mommy!
Tasha. Yes, we brought our dog to the race. My family is a dog family now. Kinda weird.
Apparently mile 16 seemed like a good place for some serious dancing.
Here he comes, feeling good with victory arms and all.
After he ran by, it was back to the car and down to the finish line.

I had fun taking pictures of all sorts of people, including the first woman who looked like it was no big deal to be finishing at 2 hours, 45 minutes.
... and then Dad ran by! Almost done at mile 26.
He finished the marathon in 3 hours and 40 seconds. What a stud.
The Cummings also came to see Dad at the finish line, and it was great to see them!
Other various, interesting runners:
This lady looked like she had some serious electrolyte imbalances going on, but the police were helping her cross the finish line.
Barefoot runner. Crazy.
J0hn Zimmerman.

This was my Dad with one of his new friends. Apparently they ran together for a decent portion of the race. After he finished, he walked back and for about an hour, stood and clapped/cheered/encouraged other runners at mile 26. No big deal, he just ran a marathon, that's all.
The Austens.
After the race, we headed to Jimmy John's for lunch. My dad was a little tired for some reason...
We saw this sign at a Pottery shop and had to stop and take a picture. Yes, it really exists. Every time we drove by it throughout the weekend, we all had a good laugh.
On Saturday afternoon, we all jumped in the car (after my Dad had a nap, of course) and drove up to the Lytle family ranch. My great grandparents used to live on the ranch in the summers and farm the land as well as raise some livestock. My dad spent a couple summers here as a teenager learning how to work and he loves going back to see it, even if the old house is no longer there. It was an absolutely beautiful place.
Also, had to take a few pictures of the red rock in Snow Canyon.
Sunday morning, we woke up and watched the morning session of conference in our hotel room and I remember how much I miss my crazy family. Riley decided that during a hymn would be a good time to attack Chad and she quickly learned that she would never win in a battle of strength against Chad. This is moments before he did the mature, big brother-type thing and gave her a wet willy and a noogie. Oh family.
