Easter in Provo

Easter is most definately a family holiday, not one Chad and I could have or would have celebrated on our own. Good news for us though, we have awesome families and we had an excellent Easter holiday. The Myer family, who are far far away in the land of California, sent us a wonderful Easter basket package (they spoil us) with all sorts of goodies including: new t-shirts, a skirt, Trader Joe's dark chocolate orange sticks/peanut butter cups, swedish fish, water filtration water bottles, and a book for my summer reading list! On the Bennett side, we got to spend time with Kimber/Jason/Kenzie and Mom for the weekend! (Might I add, we ALSO received an easter basket from Mom with gardening gloves, a spade, and chocolately goodness). Our families really love us.

Mom was up for the weekend to help Kimber while she was getting surgery on her gums... kind of a bummer for Kimber, but all went well! Saturday night, we headed to Olive Garden for a delicious family dinner and then back to Kimber & Jason's apartment for dessert: JCW's shakes... they were enormous and delicious. Probably the most entertaining part of the evening, however, was the performance of little miss Kenzie Shae.

One of her favorite tricks is to be a "doggie" which means she barks, crawls on the floor and our favorite: rolls over. This is an action shot of said "rolling":

On the beautifully sunny (yet still a tad bit cold with the wind) Easter sunday, Chad and I ditched our own ward to go to church with the family. After church, we headed to the park in our church clothes to play with Kenzie. Dang that girl is adorable. She's actually starting to know who we are and can say our names; I'm quite certain that we are her favorite aunt and uncle.

After playing outside, it was time for the Easter bunny to visit the Goodwin house. Kenz went to get her clothes changed and Chad, Jason, and I hid all manner of easter egg goodness throughout the front room of the apartment. It only took a bit of quick coaching before she understood the concept of hunting for easter eggs and quickly filled her easter basket. Most entertaining of the afternoon was when Kenzie figured out that the plastic eggs opened up into two pieces. The next most logical step was to take one half of that plastic egg and use her teeth to hold it over her nose like so:

So after a fun-filled Easter with family, Chad and I decided that some holidays are just not the same without kids. Good news for us: until we can have our own, we will always have the cute & adorable Kenzie to remind us why holidays are so much fun. Thanks Kimber and Jason for sharing your beautiful little girl with us!
